90% of Gaza’s population gets subjected to forced displacement: UNRWA

GAZA, Jan. 07 (YPA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that nearly 90% of Gaza’s population has been subjected to forced displacement.

In a post on X platform, the UNRWA called for a ceasefire to provide urgent aid to Gaza and end the ongoing forced displacement.

“There is no safe place in Gaza in light of the specter of famine looming over the Strip,” it warned.

During a visit he made to the Strip last month, the Commissioner-General of the UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, confirmed that the crisis in the Gaza Strip is worsening.

He added that the residents of Gaza seek safety and an end to what he described as “hell on earth,” noting that they live in the streets and need everything.

The Israeli occupation has imposed a comprehensive siege on the coastal strip since the conflict began for more than three months, and the border with Egypt is the only outlet for the residents of Gaza.

Most of the Strip’s 2.3 million residents have been displaced from their homes, and they say it is impossible to find shelter or food in the Strip, where over 22,000 people have been killed so far.
