Senior commander killed in US attack on Iraq

BAGHDAD, Jan. 04 (YPA) – A senior commander, with a number of his companions, was killed on Thursday in the US attack that targeted Al-Nujaba’s headquarters in Iraqi capital Baghdad.

Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces announced in a press statement that American attack targeted a building used by the Al-Nujaba movement on Palestine Street, east of the capital, killing the commander, Abu Taqwa al-Saidi.

Al-Saidi is considered one of the pivotal figures in the “Special Operations” of the “Al-Nujaba” movement, and he was given the task of controlling the areas of the Baghdad Belt, during the battles against ISIS after 2016.

Reuters quoted a local leader in the Al-Nujaba Movement as saying that the faction “will take revenge on the Americans and make them regret committing this attack.”
