ADEN, Sept. 24 (YPA) – University unions in several southern provinces of Yemen declared on Sunday in a protest rally to escalate against exclusion policy that the Saudi-firmed Presidential Leadership Council, led by Rashad al-Alimi, practices against them.
At the rally, head of the Faculty and Assistant Teaching Staff Union at the University of Aden, Fadl Makwa, and the head of the Workers and Employees Union at the University, Adeeb Abdul Karim, made a speech affirming their adherence to demand their financial, administrative, and academic legal rights.
They indicated that this rally would be followed by escalating protest steps to the Council of Ministers and the Ministries of Civil Service and Finance, to rejecting also “systematic policies intended to insult all university employees.”
The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction and anger at the policy of exclusion, marginalization, and systematic injustice practiced against them by what is called the al-Alimi’s Council and the coalition-backed government.
The rally confirmed that they would continue to protest and escalate to a comprehensive until all their demands be implemented.
The rally included also Union of Workers and Employees of the Universities of Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa.
