SHABWA, Sept. 12 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Shabwa Defense’s factions sent a military campaign against Islah Party militants-held areas of Habban district, south of the city of Ataq, the provincial capital of Shabwa, eastern Yemen.
Local sources familiar with the matter said on Monday that campaign, including dozens of members on board approximately 60 military vehicles and 25 armored others, sent to confront Al-Qaeda members in Wadi Rafdh Al Abdullah bin Daha in the district.
The sources indicated that these forces stormed two empty houses whose owners had been living in Ataq city for years.
The sources suggested that those areas in the district are still under the control of local pro-Islah members and groups, amid accusations that they are harboring terrorist elements fleeing from Abyan in those areas.
