SHABWA, Aug. 02 (YPA) – The UAE-backed factions took on Wednesday dozens of vegetable and meat sellers in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province, to its prisons and secret detention centers.
Informed human rights sources in the city said that elements of UAE-backed “Shabwa defense” arrested a number of vegetable and meat sellers in Ataq after they were expelled from the central vegetable market last year and sold the market floor to one of the investors close to the governor Awadh al-Wazir.
The sources attributed the reasons for the arrest of vegetable and meat sellers for creating sites in front of their shops and refusing to pay illegal royalties.
The local authorities of the coalition refuse to release the sellers, requiring their relatives to pay sums of money up to about one million riyals, the sources added.
