Al-Qaeda shoots down Emirati drone in Abyan

ABYAN, July. 11 (YPA) – Al Qaeda terrorist organization declared on Monday its militants had shot down a drones belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Abuan province, south of Yemen.

Local sources affirmed on Tuesday that the terrorist elements targeted the Matrice 300 drone carrying missiles, in Al-Mahfad area, without mentioning the type of weapon that targeted it.

On the other hand, the terrorist elements targeted also military gatherings of the STC’s factions with a number of mortar shells in in districts of Al-Mahfad and Mudiyah.

The sources indicated that the attack came after the STC militias sent military reinforcements from Aden to the two districts.

Since the STC launched Operation Arrows of the East in mid-August of last year, hundreds of STC members were killed and wounded, and dozens of military vehicles were destroyed by al-Qaeda attacks and its explosive devices.
