HODEIDA, June 16 (YPA) – The Ministry of Electricity of the Sanaa Government is making arrangements to restart all units at the Ras Katneeb station in Hodeida province during the coming days.
This comes as part of the ministry’s plan to reconnect government electricity to all homes in the capital, Sanaa, and the provinces.
The director of the station, Taha Sallam, explained that there are three units ready for operation with a capacity of 60 megawatts upon request at any time (the second, third, and fifth units), and there is a unit currently operating with a capacity of 20 megawatts (the fourth unit), while the first unit is under maintenance.
During his visit to the station, Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti, was briefed on the rehabilitation and maintenance process that is currently being carried out for fuel tanks in the station to store enough diesel fuel to operate the Hiziyaz and Ras Katneeb stations for three months.
The minister also inspected the site specified for the establishment of a solar energy system with a capacity of three megawatts, which will be implemented by the General Electricity Corporation within the area of Ras Katneeb station to cover the internal consumption of the station.
