ABAYAN, May 21 (YPA) – Yemen’s southern province of Abyan has witnessed final arrangements to disengage from Aden’s government loyal to Saudi-led coalition.
This step coincides with developments in the scene, which herald the need to undermine the arrangements of the UAE-backed separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC) for expansion eastward.
Sheikh Walid Al-Fadhli, son of the Sultanate of Al-Fadhli, one of the most important sultanates in Abyan in the past, announced in a statement issued by his office the completion of the special arrangements to form an alliance of the sons and tribes of Abyan, which is expected to be declared soon.
Al-Fadhli expected the names of the preparatory committee to be announced in the coming days.
The statement indicated that the alliance would take care of the affairs of the province and the rights of its people.
These arrangements on the ground coincide with consultations in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to form a southern bloc parallel to the STC.
The head of the “Revolutionary Movement Council”, Fuad Rashed, revealed a meeting he had with the former Minister of Interior in the pro-coalition government, Ahmed Al-Maysari, to arrange the formation of the new alliance.
