Major General Mahmoud Al-Subaihi survives assassination attempt in Lahj

LAHJ, May 17 (YPA) – Local residents in Lahj province circulated on Wednesday reports stating that the former defense minister in “Hadi government” was subjected to an assassination attempt in Al-Madaribah district.

According to local residents, Major General “Mahmoud Al-Subaihi”, the former Minister of Defense of the “Hadi” government, who was released in a Ramadan swap deal, was subjected to an assassination attempt in the “Majzaa” area, east of Al Madaribah district, while trying to mediate to end tribal fighting between the tribes of “Al-Buraima and Al-Shamaya”, which failed on Wednesday after the outbreak of confrontations between the two parties, during which medium weapons were widely used.

Residents pointed out that “Al-Subaihi’s car was  hit with  machine guns shoots fired by militants belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Activist Abdullah al-Dahrany said on Twitter: “Major General Mahmoud al-Subaihi survived first an assassination attempt in Lahj by the STC militia.”

Meanwhile, Hadrami journalist Ali Hussein Ba’alawi tweeted: “Conflicting reports talk about the survival of former Defense Minister Major General Mahmoud al-Subaihi from an assassination attempt in Lahj.”
