Six Lebanese soldiers, killed in blast of ordnance left from Israeli aggression

BEIRUT, Aug. 09 (YPA) – Six Lebanese soldiers were killed and 10 others injured on Saturday when ammunition remnants from Israeli aggression exploded in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, according to the official Lebanese National News Agency.

According to the agency, the explosion happened in an area between the towns of Majdal Zoun and Zebqine of the district, where an engineering team was working to dismantle unexploded ordnance.

According to Al-Mayadeen TV, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun made a phone call to Army Commander General Rodolph Haykal, where he was briefed on the tragic incident that occurred in the Majdal Zoun area.

The incident killed and injured a number of soldiers as a result of an ammunition explosion in a unit of the army engineering regiment while its personnel were working to remove and disable the ammunition.

Israeli occupation had carried out military operations in Lebanon on Oct. 8, 2023, which escalated into a full-scale aggression by September 2024, killing over 4,000 people and injuring about 17,000.
