Al-Burhan, Hamedti talk about conditions for ending conflict in Sudan
KHARTOUM, April 29 (YPA) – The commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo “Hamedti”, have talked about their conditions for negotiation and an end to the conflict in the country.
Al-Burhan said, during an interview yesterday, Friday, with the American “Al-Hurra” tv channel, that it is not possible to sit with Hamedti because he is leading a “rebellion that must be ended.”
He went to say: “There is no way for this militia except to disappear through negotiation on how to absorb it within the armed forces or fight it with all the Sudanese people.”
He stated that the army can resolve the battle in a very short time, but it works to preserve the infrastructure and protect civilians.
Al-Burhan added, “The army controls all of Sudan, except for a few spots in Darfur, which will be resolved soon.”
For his part, Hamedti stated that he considers the cessation of hostilities a condition for negotiations with Al-Burhan.
“We do not want to destroy Sudan,” he said in an interview with the BBC, blaming the other party for the violence in the country.
Hamedti indicated that there were no personal problems with Al-Burhan, accusing the latter of bringing officials loyal to former President Omar Al-Bashir to the government.
He affirmed that he is seeking to form a civilian government in Sudan as soon as possible, and that his goal was to protect the country from “the remnants of the government that was during the past 30 years”.
Since April 15, a number of Sudanese states have witnessed massive clashes between the army, led by Al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Hemedti.
