BEIJING, April 29 (YPA) – Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu has described the relations between his country and Iran as important, and stressed that developing them, including military cooperation, is of paramount and strategic importance to China.
“Our vision on relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is profound and long-term,” said the Chinese defense minister, adding that the two countries have strategic mutual trust and advocate independence.
He explained that China has always supported Iran’s position against unilateral sanctions, and condemns any kind of interference in Iran’s affairs, and it also supports the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Li Shangfu said the two countries have sincere and effective cooperation against the hegemony of some countries.
He continued, “We believe that there is a good prospect ahead of us, and that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a good and constructive role in regional issues, and we support the solution of Iran’s issues with its neighbors.”
Congratulating Iran on its membership in the Shanghai Organization, Li Shangfu expressed gratitude for Iran’s request to join BRICS, and declared that China would continue its cooperation with Iran on peace and stability.
