OSLO, Aug. 06 (YPA) – Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that he will request a review of his country’s investments in Israeli companies in light of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as a result of the genocide perpetrated by Tel Aviv.
This came in a statement published by the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, quoting Stoltenberg regarding the catastrophic humanitarian conditions endured by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Stoltenberg pointed to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, following Israel’s intensification of its attacks and settler attacks.
The minister said, “Today, I will ask the Norwegian Central Bank and the Ethics Council to review the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund’s investments in Israeli companies.”
Stoltenberg explained that the aim of the review is to ensure that the fund does not invest in companies that violate international law by contributing to the events taking place in the West Bank and Gaza.
