Moscow summons chief of US Embassy’s staff

MOSCOW, April 28 (YPA) – Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned on Thursday the chief of staff of the US Embassy in Moscow.

The ministry said in a statement this move came in protest against the refusal to grant visas to the Russian press delegation accompanying Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“The chief employee of the US diplomatic mission (embassy) in Moscow, who was summoned to the building of the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 27, received an official notice of protest against the provocative actions of the US diplomatic mission, which disrupted the procedures for issuing visas to media representatives from the Russian press delegation, which was supposed to accompany him on a trip to New York within the framework of Russia’s assumption of the presidency of the UN Security Council,” according to Russian state-owned Novosti news agency.

The statement stressed that “such sabotage and a measure aimed at preventing normal journalistic work will not go unanswered.”
