Iran targets 10 US vessels, 10 violating ships in Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN, Sept. 09 (YPA) – The Naval Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Wednesday that it carried out military operations targeting 10 US vessels and 10 violating ships in the Strait of Hormuz, in response to a US attack on five Iranian oil tankers.

In its third official statement, the IRGC stated that it targeted two US military vessels and eight oil tankers, causing significant damage. The statement noted that the operations simultaneously targeted 10 violating ships attempting to transit what Tehran designated as a restricted and unsafe zone in the Strait of Hormuz, allegedly with US military encouragement and support.

These maritime developments follow a series of military actions launched by the IRGC earlier in the day, which included a missile strike on the Al-Azraq military base hosting US forces in Jordan. The IRGC said the attack destroyed aircraft hangars, amid US and Israeli media reports citing direct human and material casualties.

The escalating strikes aim to increase the military cost for US forces and demonstrate the Iranian Navy’s readiness to counter aggressions, challenging US administration claims regarding the decline of Iran’s naval capabilities.
