Pro-Saudi forces with huge military equipment arrive in Aden
ADEN, March 13 (YPA) – Forces loyal to Saudi Arabia arrived at the Saudi-led coalition forces headquarters in Al-Buraiqa district, in the city of Aden, southern Yemen, on Monday.
Local sources explained that Saudi Arabia is in the process of bringing in three brigades of extremist Salafist elements, the so-called “Dera Al-Watan” forces, to Aden in the coming days, noting that these forces were trained in the areas of “Khoura Omira” and “Ras Al-Ara” near the Bab Al-Mandab Strait, west of Lahj province.
“The command of the Saudi forces has brought the Special Tasks Battalion from Dera Al-Watan to Aden,” the sources said, adding that the battalion’s tasks are to protect the headquarters of the Dera Al-Watan forces command in Al-Sha’b area.
The command of the Saudi forces will distribute those forces to the various areas of Aden city to secure it.
Rashad al-Alimi, the president of the Riyadh-formed “Presidential Council”, issued a decision at the end of January to form the so-called “Dera Al-Watan” forces associated with Saudi Arabia, with the goal of securing his presence in Aden in the face of threats from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militia.
