ADEN, Feb. 25 (YPA) – The so-called “Southern Resistance,” one of the factions loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), got headed to break into Maashiq Presidential Palace, in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.
Local sources said the STC’s militias pushed hundreds of young people to an angry protest in front of the Palace’s gate in Crater city, in preparation for storming.
The sources indicated that the protest mass demonstration would be backed by armed civilians from the “Southern Resistance” in preparation for taking control of the Palace.
The movements of the “Southern Resistance” came at the behest of the leaders of the “Transitional Council,” which is a member of the Al-Alimi Council and a partner in the pro-coalition government, to expel the pro-Al-Alimi leaders.”
This comes after clashes broke out between the STC militias and members of Al-Tawilah neighborhood in Crater area, in search of the so-called wanted persons.
The head of the coalition-backed government, Maeen Abdulmalik, and a number of ministers in his government managed to escape from the Maashiq Palace, after storming it in March 2021, with the participation of elements of the STC militia, due to the high food prices.
