Two new earthquakes stick Iraq

BAQDAD, Feb. 25 (YPA) – Two new earthquakes struck on Saturday the provinces of Nineveh and Erbil, north Iraq.

Iraq’s Ministry of Transport stated in its statement that the General Weather Authority for Meteorological and Seismic Monitoring that the earthquake, which occurred at 02:25 a.m. local time, 8.5 km east of Hatra district of Nineveh, was felt by residents of Nineveh, Erbil, and Dohuk provinces unevenly. There were no reports of significant losses.

The statement indicated that a second earthquake occurred at 03:09 am, local time, 22 km northeast of the city center in Erbil.

It called on citizens to take caution, avoid rumors and false news, and adhere to the seismic commandments issued by the Meteorological Authority.
