British investigative report reveals heavy-caliber scandal against former UN envoy to Yemen

LONDON, Feb. 23 (YPA) – A report by the British investigative journalism website “Declassified” has revealed that the former UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, has a business partnership with businessmen from Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The report stated that Griffiths established a private consulting company with the vice president of the “TAQA” company, which worked on projects worth millions of pounds in the countries leading the criminal war on Yemen.

Griffiths established the personal brokerage company with Andrew Loken, deputy of the British company “iCare,” which has large commercial interests in the Saudi and Emirati energy sectors; although it says that it is not currently working in either country, while Griffiths has been mediating between the two sides from 2018 to 2021, according to the report.

The report stated that “the Saudi and Emirati regimes are participating in the devastating war against the Yemeni people, and together they are leading the air war against the country, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of civilians since 2015.”

The US-British-backed coalition carried out “more than 25,000 air strikes,” according to the report. Meanwhile, Griffiths used his position as UN envoy to profit financially from senior Saudi and Emirati officials, undermining the impartiality that UN envoys are supposed to have.

The report indicated that “the investigative investigations also indicated that Griffiths was closely linked to the secret British intelligence service known as “M16,” which worked with great thanks in the war on Yemen, and the recent revelation that Britain loaned a military officer to Griffiths when he was the United Nations envoy to Yemen.”
