8 people injured in Florida shooting

WORLD, Jan. 17 (YPA) – At least eight people were injured at a Martin Luther King Day event in Fort Pierce, Florida, CNN reported, citing local authorities.

A local police spokeswoman confirmed that four people were injured, one of them seriously injured,  while they were trying to leave the area.

The shooting took place Monday evening at Ilouis Ellis Park, where a car show and a “family fun day” were held to mark the memory of Martin Luther King, a prominent American civil rights defender who was assassinated in 1968.

Police did not say whether any of the suspects in the shooting had been detained or whether possible motives for the attack had been identified.
