The Guardian: The number of tanks Britain will send to Ukraine is not enough to launch a counterattack
WORLD, Jan. 17 (YPA)- The number of tanks Britain intends to send to Ukraine is not important to change the balance of forces on the battlefield, The Guardian reported.
According g to the paper, “Britain sending 14 Challenger 2 tanks is not enough, and even if Britain wants to allocate more of its arsenal of 227 tanks, it will not be able to provide the necessary size.”
It added that although heavy arms supplies to Ukraine had been activated by the West, the number of tanks would not be sufficient for Ukrainian forces to be able to launch a counter-offensive.
“The question here is: how many (tanks) will allow Kiev to launch a special attack? The experts of the International Institute for Strategic Research believe that the answer is about a hundred tanks. This is the number that Phil Osborn, the former head of British military intelligence insists on.
Military expert Nick Reynolds said that on the battlefield only the tank after contact with the enemy has the protection, mobility and combat capability necessary to maintain the speed of the attack.
