Dozens of militants killed in Somalia military operation

MOGADISU, Jan. 09 (YPA) – 61 militants of “Al-Shabab” movement affiliated with “Al-Qaeda” in Somalia were killed during a joint operation carried out in the country.

The Somali News Agency said the operation was carried out by the Somali Intelligence and Security Agency, with the support of international partners, in Middle Shabelle region.

The agency stated that the special operation targeted about 150 members of the “Al-Shabaab” movement who were planning to launch attacks on the Somali army and local forces with car bombs.

According to the agency, the elements of the movement were preparing to enter two booby-trapped cars into the city of Mogadishu, but the security forces thwarted their attempt.
