ADEN, Dec. 21 (YPA) – The Saudi forces closed all the streets and residential neighborhoods surrounding Maashiq presidential palace in the city of Aden, which is controlled by the UAE militia, in southern Yemen.
Local sources in the city said that several Saudi military vehicles deployed in the vicinity of the palace in Crater area, and imposed strict measures on the entry and exit of residents from the residential neighborhoods near the palace.
The sources attributed the Saudi alert to the possibility of an uprising and popular protests in the city, after the statements of the head of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, that the coalition-backed government, Maeen Abdul Malik, would not be able to pay salaries this month.
The sources expected that the city would witness similar protests, during which the Maashiq Palace would be stormed, similar to what happened in March 2020, which led to the escape of the head of the government and a number of ministers across the sea on boats that transported them to the coalition camp in Brega area in the same city.
