Photos document military equipment, drones inside Aden port

ADEN, Aug. 13 (YPA) – New photographs were documented on Wednesday revealing shipment of military equipment and drones inside a commercial container at the free zone port in Aden city, south of Yemen, last week.

Sources familiar with the matter said that port security forces seized more than 7,000 smart maps of Islah party-affiliated drones that were being transported to Marib city.

The sources explained that the shipment was seized at the port with the complicity of Islah-aligned officials in the coalition-backed Aden government, indicating that the seized shipments during the past period were being released under the direction of members of the “Presidential Leadership Council”.

They explained that the dismissal of the security director of the free zone district, Jamal Dayan, falls within the context of the scandal surrounding the smuggling of weapons and drones to Islah in Marib, following his denial of entry to factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) to investigate the seized items.

The sources suggested that al-Qaeda elements and their loyalists in Shabwa-Abyan likely obtained drones from Islah leaders, in retaliation for the events of August 2022 against the (STC).

Activists from Aden and the southern provinces circulated photos, claiming they were part of the seizures at the Aden Free Zone port, without providing any further details.
