MOSCOW, Sept. 28 (YPA) – The US embassy in Moscow on Wednesday called on its citizens to leave Russian territory immediately.
The embassy explained in a statement that partial mobilization in Russia had begun, and that it was possible to summon American citizens with Russian citizenship for military service.
The statement also added that the United States of America may not be able to assist its citizens if they are called up for military service. It stated that American citizens wishing to leave Russia should make their arrangements quickly.
The statement stressed that “American citizens should not travel to Russia, and that those in it should leave it immediately.”
This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, last Wednesday, a partial military mobilization in the country, following the advance of Ukrainian forces in the eastern regions.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said, on Wednesday, that the reserve forces that were recently mobilized in the Kaliningrad region began combat exercises at the base of the Russian fleet in the Baltic Sea.
The Kremlin said Wednesday that the “special military operation” in Ukraine will continue until Russia fully controls the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
