SHABWA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – Fierce clashes renewed on Saturday among the Saudi-led coalition’s factions in the city of Ataq, north of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
Local sources said that al-Amaliqa militias and Shabwa Defense backed by the UAE advanced from “Arma” junction, hours after controlling it, towards the government complex in the “Al-Uqla” area.
The recruits of the “21st Brigade” affiliated with Saudi-funded Islah militants allowed al-Amaliqa forces to penetrate in order to avoid the UAE warplane raids, following a successful detour from its positions in “Al-Mashar” area.
The sources confirmed that the militias of al-Amaliqa retreated to their positions at the “Arma” junction, after incurring heavy losses in lives and equipment.
