Officer, his child injured in assassination attempt in Hadhramaut

HADHRAMAUT, May 24 (YPA) – A police officer loyal to Saudi-led coalition and his child were injured in an assassination attempt on late Monday evening, medical sources in Hadhramaut said.

The sources pointed out that the officer, who works in the security of Seiyun came under fire while passing by his car near the airport.

His son was also injured in the incident, according to the sources.

The sources explained that the security forces in the area cordoned off the hospital and prevented leaking of the officer’s data.

The incident coincided with a meeting chaired by Ahmed bin Break, the President of the National Assembly of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), to discuss the breakdown of security in the areas, which are under the control of Islah militants in the Wadi Hadhramaut areas.
The incident could see a new escalation as demands for expelling all military unites belonging to Islah party deployed in the Oil Plateau.
