Russia closes airspace to Baltic states, Slovenia

MOSCOW, Feb. 27 (YPA) – Russia has closed its airspace for Latvian, Lithuanian, Slovenian and Estonian planes, including for transit flights, Russia’s Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsiya) said on Sunday, in response to the Russian military operation to protect Donbass.

“Due to unfriendly moves by aviation authorities of Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Estonia, restrictions will be introduced for air carriers of the above-mentioned states and/or airlines registered there,” the agency said.

According to the Russian Federal Aviation Authority, The decision was made in accordance with the international law.

The following countries have closed their airspace for Russian aircraft: the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Latvia, Lilthuania and Estonia.

Earlier, Russia closed its airspace for UK, Bulgarian, Czech, Polish and Romanian planes.
