Russia: NATO countries must take responsibility before holding Moscow accountable for its disarmament of Ukraine

MOSCOW, Feb. 27 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has confirmed on Saturday that Western countries have in fact become involved in the genocide against citizens of the popular Republics of Luhansk and Donetsk, and NATO countries should take responsibility for their actions before “holding Russia accountable” for their disarmament operation in Ukraine.

“For eight years, Western countries have carelessly monitored the killings and abuses of thousands of civilians in southeastern Ukraine,” Zakharova said in a statement.

In fact, (Western countries) have become involved in the long-standing genocide against the people of the Republics of Lugansk and Donetsk.”

She stressed the United States and its NATO allies are not interested in a settlement in Ukraine, adding that “NATO’s desire to continue sending weapons to Ukraine, including air defense systems, speaks of only one thing: the United States and its allies are not interested in resolving the crisis in this country.”

Maria Zakharova called on NATO countries to take responsibility for their actions, before blaming Russia for its military operation to disarm Ukraine.
