11 killed due to deadly flood in Ecuador’s capital Quito

SANAA, Feb. 01 (YPA) – At least 11 people have been killed and about 32 were injured  by a powerful flooding in Ecuador’s capital Quito, emergency officials say.

Video footage shows a torrent of muddy water and debris streaming down a hilly street in the northern La Gasca district, sweeping away cars and motorcycles.

Ecuador’s National Risk and Emergency Management Service announced that the armed forces were mobilizing 60 soldiers to support search and rescue efforts along with the Quito Fire Department and the police.
