WFP warns of slipping Yemen into starvation
SANAA, Dec. 16 (YPA) – The World Food Program (WFP) has warned of slipping Yemen into famine, as the war has continued for seven years.
In a recent report issued by the WFP on the humanitarian situation in Yemen, the program said that more than five million people are at risk of starvation in a country, which is suffering from one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
The WFP emphasized that seven years of war have not showed a sign of hunger waning.
The program noted that nearly 16.2 million people face acute hunger, and 5.1 million others are at risk of starvation, and 2.3 million children suffer of malnutrition this year.
