Islah militants forcibly disperses celebration in Marib, kidnap many revelers

MARIB, Dec. 14 (YPA) – Islah militants carried out a large-scale kidnapping campaign against the youth of Marib city, following their celebrations on Yemen’s victory over its Saudi counterpart in the West Asian juror football Championship.

According to the local residents in Marib province, armed groups belonging to the Al-Islah militia raided gatherings of citizens in the public street in the complex of the city, who took to the street to express their joy at the victory of the Yemeni team in the West Asian Championship after defeating the Saudi team in the final with a penalty shootout 4/3.

Residents confirmed that the Islah militia used live bullets to disperse the revelers and abducted many of them

Sana’a and many Yemeni cities have witnessed tumultuous popular celebrations through dancing and launching fireworks into the sky  to celebrate their team’s first win in the West Asian Championship.
