After losing Laudar, STC threatens with escalation in Abyan

ADEN, Jul. 04 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Saturday vowed to respond to the Brotherhood’s forces (Islah Party) in Abyan province, south of Yemen, after the latter took control of Laudar district Friday.

In a statement issued by the council’s president, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, during a meeting with the council’s military leaders in Aden, the council said that its forces would not stand idly by towards what it described as “tampering with the security of Abyan province and the south in general.”

The meeting discussed the military events in the city of Laudar in Abyan, and the Islah party’s military reinforcements and its control of the district and the STC-affiliated Security Belt camp in it, according to the statement.
