SANAA, May 18 (YPA) – The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said late on Monday that there was coordinating with the Lebanese Armed Forces to strengthen security control after spotting rocket fire from an area in southern Lebanon.
The UNIFIL had intensified patrols to prevent any further incidents that endanger the safety of the local population and the security of southern Lebanon.
It said the mission commander was still in contact with the parties concerned to ensure stability in the region and calm tensions, Reuters reported.
The situation was now calm in the region, it added.
The Israeli army said that six shells were fired from Lebanon towards Israel on Monday but landed inside the Lebanese border.”
“The artillery responded by firing shells at the source of the missiles in Lebanon,” the army added.
