WEST BANK, May 18 (YPA) – A general strike on Tuesday hit the West Bank and inside governorates in protest against Israel’s continued aggression against the Palestinian people and in solidarity with the dead and wounded in the Gaza Strip.
The strike covered all aspects of commercial and educational life, including private and public institutions, and schools and universities were closed as well as banks and public transport.
The leadership of the national and Islamic forces called for a comprehensive strike in all Palestinian territories and in asylum camps on Tuesday, emphasizing on all Palestinians to participate extensively in national and mass events, from city centers, villages and camps to areas of contact with Israel at 1 p.m.
On Monday, Hamas called on Palestinians in West Bank cities to strike comprehensively and openly engage Israeli forces in friction points.
