SANAA, Aug. 23 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based foreign minister, Jamal Amer, met on Saturday Karen Perrin, the new director of the UN Office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA) in Yemen.
In the meeting, the minister received on Perrin’s appointment papers as the OCHA’s new head of office in Yemen.
Mr. Amer stressed the his ministry’s readiness to provide all necessary support and facilities to ensure the success of the OCHA’s missions and to overcome any difficulties that may confront the office’s work.
He called on the OCHA office to work impartially, adhering to the five rules governing the work of organizations, away from dictates and pressures, to ensure that aid would reach those who truly deserve.
For her part, the new UN official expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the leadership of the ministry for the warm welcome, noting that the principles of neutrality, independence, and transparency represent the cornerstones of OCHA’s work.
Perrin emphasized that the OCHA’s team would do utmost to ensure that vital aid should reach the most vulnerable and affected groups across the country.
