Protesters blockade oil tankers in Yemen’s Aden

ADEN, May 28 (YPA) – Angry protests broke out in Aden city blocking on Monday evening  fuel tankers from the headquarters of the oil company in Aden, a security official said.

 

The move came on the background of protest against raising fuel prices and due to shortage of fuel quantity at local markets.

 

In Aden, oil derivatives sold in the black market and in large quantities, but at high prices up to 10 thousand riyals price of 20 liters.

 

The city witnessed the crisis of oil derivatives since the beginning of this year.

 

Two week ago, officials of Saudi-backed Ben Daghr’s authorities said that an oil company in Aden province would fix a new price for oil derivatives.

 

The company’s branch director, Entasar al-Arashah, said that the company intends to open several stations to sell oil derivatives at a new price of YR 6,300 for “20 liters”.

 

Debts of the Yemeni oil company in Aden exceeded more than 140 billion riyals.
