British imposes sanctions on 20 Saudis for their involvement in Khashoggi killing

SANAA, July 7 (YPA) – Britain imposed on Monday sanctions on 20 Saudis over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Foreign Minister Dominic Rap said that the sanctions are aimed at stopping the washing of “blood in this country.”

London imposed sanctions on Saud al-Qahtani, a former high-ranking Saudi royal adviser, and Ahmed al-Asiri, the former deputy chief of intelligence, who were both charged in the Khashoggi killing case.

Britain also imposed sanctions on 25 Russia and two military leaders in Myanmar for what it described as a human rights violation against the Rohingya people and other ethnic minorities.

The move is the first of its kind that London has offered to freeze assets and ban visas independently.
