Satellite images show smoke rising from Saudi Aramco facilities

SANAA, Sept. 08 (YPA) – Satellite images released by the Terra satellite on Tuesday showed large plumes of black smoke continuing to rise over Saudi Arabia from an Aramco oil refinery and distribution facility in Jizan, as well as a distribution facility in Abha, following attacks by Sanaa forces in recent hours.

Earlier on the day, Sanaa forces announced that they had carried out extensive military operations involving dozens of missiles and drones targeting Aramco facilities in Abha and Najran, the economic zone and Aramco facilities in Jizan, and Khamis Mushait Air Base. The operations came in response to 121 Saudi airstrikes that targeted several Yemeni governorates over the past three days.

On Monday, NASA released satellite images showing smoke rising from multiple fire sites at Aramco oil facilities in Jizan in southern Saudi Arabia. The Financial Times also reported that an attack had targeted the company’s Jizan refinery.

The newspaper quoted eyewitnesses as saying the scale and intensity of the attack was at least comparable to the strike that hit the area last month, raising growing concerns over the safety and stability of critical infrastructure.
