United States imposes new sanctions on Iran

WASHINGTON, June 8 (YPA) – The United States of America on Monday expanded its sanctions list targeting Iran by imposing restrictions on more than 100 ships and two companies linked to Iran’s oil production sector.

The US Department of Treasury said that it had listed 123 Iranian ships involved in the transportation of fuel and both of the “ESAIL SHIPPING LIMITED” and “ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN SHIPPING LINES” companies operating in this sector in the sanctions list.

US President Donald Trump’s administration, since he took power in 2017, has been carrying out a “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran that includes severe economic sanctions against Tehran, which the White House says “is the largest international backer of terrorism in the Middle East.”
