ABYAN, April 19 (YPA) – UAE warplanes have flown heavily over airspace of the Islah-controlled city of Shaqra in Abyan province, southern Yemen, local sources said Sunday.
The sources confirmed that coalition warplanes flew over military positions belonging to al-Islah militants in Shaqra and Qarn al-Kalasi for more than an hour.
In a related context, informed sources indicated that the UAE has stipulated in the negotiations currently underway with al-Islah, the exit of all Islah camps from Abyan and Shabwah, threatening to bomb them without retreat.
The sources pointed out that among the UAE conditions is the return of the “shabwah elite” to the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwah province, after it was expelled by the al-Islah gunman in August 2019.
According to other local sources, Al-Islah planted improvise explosive devices over a large area in Shaqra and Qarn al-Kalasi, in addition to using hundreds of al-Qaeda elements to carry out offensive operations against the UAE-backed Southern Translational Council in Zinjibar and Ja’ar.
This comes after the exiled “Hadi” directed a strong blow to the leader of the Islah Party, Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, not to advance towards Aden, after the party announced the battle of “New Dawn” last Friday evening to storm Aden.
Abdullah al-Subihi, the military commander of al-Islah militias, said in announcing the “New Dawn” that he would not carry out any orders for Hadi, as he was no longer legitimate, and that he was satisfied with the directives of the leader Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar.
Saudi Arabia is seeking to humiliate the “STC” in Aden and Socotra, using the Islah paper in Abyan and Shabwah provinces.
