UAE-backed militias block major roads in Hadebo city in Socotra Island

SOCOTRA, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The UAE occupation militias on Monday blocked all major roads in Hadebo city, the capital of Socotra province, local sources said.

According to the local sources in Socotra, the leaders of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council Militias, which were sacked on Sunday by the Interior Minister of Hadi’s government, erected roadblocks and security checkpoints on the main roads leading to Hadebo.

The sources added that this comes after the interior minister “Hadi” on Sunday dismissed the officers who announced their membership of the UAE militias on the island from their posts, and appoint others instead.

Last week, Hadi’s “Coast guard” battalion announced that it had joined the STC, after they took all weapons in the depots and transporting them to unknown locations.

Hadi’s governor on Socotra Island, Ramzi Mahrous, said on Facebook post in early February that the rebellion of the Coast Guard Battalion, the so-called “legitimacy”, was carried out under the pretext of funding and support from the UAE occupation of the battalion.

It is worth mentioning that the “Hadi government” had set last Thursday as a deadline for the battalion that declared its rebellion and joined the militias of the UAE occupation.
