France cancels scholarship for Gazan student, suspends educational support programs for Gaza

PARIS, Aug. 05 (YPA) – The French Foreign Ministry announced that a Palestinian student from Gaza who arrived in France on a scholarship left for Qatar last Sunday, following the revelation of her previous posts, described as “anti-Semitic,” on social media.

The French Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that “The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, emphasized the unacceptable nature of the comments made by Ms. Nour Atallah, the Gazan student, before entering French territory.”

According to the statement, “Given the seriousness of the situation, Ms. Atallah was unable to remain in France.”

In the same context, Barrot said on the social media site “X,” “Nour Atallah has left the national territory. She had no place here. I said it, and we did it.”

Diplomatic sources explained that “The young woman arrived in France on July 11, after obtaining a study visa and a government scholarship to study at the Institute of Political Sciences in Lille, northern France, starting in September, as part of a scholarship program for students from Gaza launched a year ago.”

It’s worth noting that Barrot announced last Friday that France had frozen all evacuation programs from Gaza pending the results of an investigation into the shortcomings that prevented the discovery of these leaflets.

The French Foreign Ministry did not specify the number of people affected by this decision, citing confidentiality reasons. It continued, “All the files of individuals who entered France will be subject to a new examination.”
