Medical convoys continue to al-Jarrahi district in Hodeidah

HODEIDAH, Nov. 16 (YPA) – Medical bridge convoys on Friday continued from the provinces to save the people of al-Jarrai district in Hodeidah province for the fourth consecutive day after the dengue epidemic spread in the district.

In last week, the Ministry of Public Health and Population in the Salvation Government declared a state of emergency in Hodeidah and five neighboring province to combat dengue and Malaria.

“Al-Jarrhai is witnessing a continuous influx of medical and health teams and ambulances from various districts and provinces to save residents of the district stricken by dengue fever,” said Dr. Yousif al-Hadhri, the health ministry’s spokesman.

This comes in response to the call of Minister of Health Dr. Taha al-Mutwakil, who declared the state of extreme emergency in Hodeidah and the provinces affected by the epidemic, he added.

The spokesman confirmed that “the Ministry of Health and its offices have made continuous efforts in rapid intervention and devoted their maximum potential to control the dengue and malaria epidemics, with the participation of the rest of sectors in the government, local councils and society.”
