Hezbollah accuses Washington of trying to push Lebanese army to confront

BEIRUT, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah accused on Wednesday the visiting US delegation of making media statements aimed at disarming the resistance.

Hezbollah considered these remakes a “clear renunciation” of the 2024 agreement sponsored by the United States and France.

The party said in a statement that US attempts to push the Lebanese army into a confrontation with its own people and to drive a wedge between it and the resistance would be a despicable attempt to undermine the relationship between the two institutions, stressing that such steps might threaten the unity of Lebanon.

“The party is counting on the Lebanese president to put an end to government decisions that could drag the army into internal strife,” the statement added, stressing the need to keep the military establishment away from political tensions to preserve national security and stability.”
