SANAA, Jan. 23 (YPA) – At the time of war escalating between Yemeni army forces and their foe, Saudi-led coalition, attempts to revive peace talks have emerged once again.
The United Nations announced the end of mission of its envoy to Yemen, Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, after his efforts to mediate in the Yemeni conflict have reached a dead end due to the envoy’s bias in the favor of Riyadh.
The new developments came after the Yemeni army has successfully fired dozens of long-range ballistic missiles on strategic military targets deep inside Saudi Arabia territories, the latest of which hit the international airports in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, and other provinces of Jizan, Najran and Assir.
On Monday, the Russian foreign minister pressed on the Yemeni parties loyal to Saudi-led coalition to engage in immediate negotiations with Sanaa government, calling for a quick shift from military action to negotiations.
