Hadramawt governor calls on province’s tribes, sheikhs to reject Saudi recruitment efforts

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 15 (YPA) – Hadramout governor Luqman Baras called on the people of the province, particularly tribal sheikhs and elders, to assume their national responsibilities in confronting plans aimed at recruiting young people from Hadramawt and deploying them as part of Saudi military buildups.

The Sanaa-based Saba News Agency quoted Baras as saying that involving people from Hadramawt in battles alongside the Saudi regime threatens the province’s residents and the cohesion of its social fabric, as well as its security and stability.

He said Saudi plans to drag the province and its people into conflicts serve only the interests of foreign powers and expand the influence of the occupier at the expense of the land and resources of the people of Hadramout.

The governor renewed his call on the people and tribes of Hadramawt not to involve themselves or their sons in Saudi military buildups east of Jawf province or along the various fronts across Yemeni territory, saying this would serve the Saudi regime, which continues its hostility toward the Yemeni people in different parts of the country.

Baras said involving Hadramout residents in fighting alongside Saudi military buildups east of Jawf would have negative repercussions for the province and encourage the Saudi regime to continue killing its people, thereby enabling it to expand its colonial ambitions in the province.

The governor praised the bravery and sacrifices of the Yemeni Armed Forces in liberating and protecting Yemeni territory from foreign ambitions, and congratulated them on their victories in expelling Saudi military buildups from Mocha and the western coastal districts of Hodeida and Taiz.
