33 prisoners in Islah prisons in Shabwa go on hunger strike
SHABWA, Sept. 22 (YPA) – About 33 prisoners from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militants held in prisons of Hadi-allied Islah Party in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, have begun an open hunger strike over abuses they suffer in prisons.
According to local sources, the prisoners are mostly from Radfan, Yafea and Dhalei areas in southern Yemen.
Families of the prisoners held in Islah prisons in Shabwa demanded that human rights and humanitarian organizations press for their release, holding Hadi authorities and Islah militias fully responsible for the detainees’ lives and health.
