4.5 magnitude earthquake hits coast of Kamchatka
SANAA, Sept. 3 (YPA) – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 struck off the eastern coast of Kamchatka, the Geophysical Survey Authority of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Kamchatka region said on Tuesday.
According to the survey, “the seismic event with a magnitude of 4.5 degrees was recorded in the Pacific Ocean, at a depth of 43 kilometers and 199 kilometers south-east, Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky.”
According to the Kamchatka State Emergency Directorate, residents of the region did not feel the tremors.
The Kamchatka Peninsula, located above the Pacific Ring of Fire, is a wide arc-shaped area with great seismic and volcanic activity.
