Maqboli denies any arbitrary measures against commercial sector, banks in Sanaa

SANAA, Feb. 20 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Hussein Maqboli on Wednesday denied accusations being promoted by the exiled Hadi government media that the National Salvation Government is practicing arbitrary measures against the commercial sector and banks in Sanaa.

During his meeting with the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator Lise Grande, Dr. Maqboli said that those accusations come within the disinformation campaign of Hadi’s government, which aimed to distort the Supreme Political Council and the Salvation Government, after it became clear to the world that the other party is working to besiege the Yemeni people and starve them.

Dr. Maqboli added that “the Salvation Government works in partnership with the commercial and economic sector and provides all facilities to enable it to play its national role in alleviating the human suffering resulting from the war imposed on the country four years ago.”

He called on the United Nations to exercise its role in pressing the other party to reopen and operate the port of Hodeidah and to allow it to receive commercial ships to contribute to alleviating the economic burdens resulting from the closure and disruption of the port.

For her part, Grande pointed out that the United Nations is seeking to implement all the provisions of Hodeidah agreement to be the basis for the transition to other stages and reaching a lasting and comprehensive peace in Yemen.

She said that the United Nations is working to reduce the humanitarian impact of the war within the framework of the approved humanitarian response plan.
